This is where the Russian-German alliance all started. Following Britain's active protection of Poland, Hitler felt like he himself should start forming some alliances. Under the non-aggression pact, Germany and the Soviet Union vowed not to take any military action against each other for the next 10 years. This agreement surprised the whole world. This is an important event because it gave Germany the confidence necessary to invade Poland.
