jun 15, 1991 - June 15, 1991 Bernardo rode in his car through Burlington to steal licence plates when he found Leslie Mahaffy. Bernardo left his car and approached Mahaffy, offering her a cigarette. Bernardo led her to his car where the cigarettes supposedly were, but instead blindfolded her, forced her into the car, and drove her back to his and Karla's home in Port Dalhousie.
