Description:

It began at the end of WWII and it was based in ideology between the U.S and Soviet Union. Both sides got to see the formation of NATO and the Warsaw Pact from a different perspective. This resulted to the ideology between communism and capitalism. The significance of the cold war was that America became one of the strongest countries in the world and ideology wise, capitalism trumped communism. This greatly enhanced the prestige and appeal of democracy. Because of this, many communist states began the transition towards democracy and a capitalist based economy.
