nov 28, 1872 - STORY EVENT #6- Illegally voting
Description:
In November of 1872, Susan B. Anthony along with other activists for Women's Rights illegally voted for the presidential election. This was a major event in time, because not only were women trying to vote, but they were going against the societal norms- knowing it was illegal. This was the beginning to an era of fighting for equality for women, a fight we are still fighting today in 2015. After this event of illegally voting, the strive for equality and the fight for justice for women continued and amplified. Suffragists and activist fought for those rights, and continued to break the law in order to protest for the rights. This brave act by Anthony lead to many more brave acts, such as a courageous revolution sparked by Margaret Sanger (Next event- birth control clinic)
