jan 9, 1969 - STORY EVENT #5 -Breakfast for Kids!
Description:
The last event I am going to include about the Black Panther party represents the nonviolent goals of the party. In January of 1969, the party created the The Panthers' Free Breakfast for Children Program (FBCP) that was held at a church in Oakland, CA. The creation of this program further supports the nonviolent ideals of the party, and this creation is an event that the party is famous for instituting. To further explain the rules of the party, any party member found shooting narcotics would be expelled from the party, crimes against others or members of the party leads to expulsion, and the use of weapons and aiming at others is prohibited. To explain, this party was strong in their ideals of trying to be peaceful and reaching their goals by using nonviolence. Through the creation of the FBCP, the party was able to incorporate benefits to children in the community while still fighting for their common goal of relief and support for the Black Community.
