Whig tariff Provided for distribution among states of revenue from sale of public lands in W but Tyler vetoed bcuz didn’t want to waste fed $$ when treasury didn’t have lots of $$$; Whigs redrafted tariff scheme, Took out distribution, pushed down rates to protective level of 1832 → 32% on duties, Tyler knew we needed more revenue → signed Tariff of 1842
