Description:
Two residents of Virginia, one African American woman named Mildred Jeter, and a white man named Richard Loving were married in District of Columbia in 1958. The couple was soon charged because the state did not allow interracial relationships. The couple were found guilty and sentenced a year of jail by an all white court.
