jun 28, 1969 - Stonewall Riots ( interesting event)

Description:

The Stonewall Riots were considered to be a catalyst for the LGBTQ movement. On June 28, 1969, the Greenwich Bar was raided by the New York police, in a state were homosexuality was highly illegal. LGBT communities met in bars and clubs to socialize with one another and feel safe, but violence broke down when the police came and arrested 13 people. They also felt justified because of the bootlegged alcohol that was found. A few minutes later, people were fighting back and setting fires in order to protest the social discrimination they faced. Days later, demonstrations were followed, along with the formation of LGBT groups
