Description:

Five days after West Germany becomes a member of NATO, the Soviets and other communist nations created the Warsaw Pact. The NATO like treaty was between Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and the Soviet Union. It was signed in Poland and was officially called "The Treaty of Friendship, Co-operation and Mutual Assistance."

As a result of the formation of the Warsaw Pact, the Soviet Union started using their new power to reinforce communist dominance in Eastern Europe. This caused Operation Danube to happen.
