mar 7, 1965 - Selma to Montgomery
Description:
Selma to Montgomery marches' main purpose was to get African Americans the right to vote in the south. The first march is famously known as "Bloody Sunday" and caught the attention of many enraged Americans who saw the peaceful demonstrators beaten and tear gassed upon refusing to turn around. MLK planned another march on the 9th of March, two days later but was forced to turn away.
