Because of assimilation and "Americanization" being forced on many Native Americans in the US, the Indian Reorganization Act was created. This act moved policy away from assimilation in the national congress of American Indians, and improved their rights with lands within their reservations. This Act is important because it granted Native Americans more rights involving their land, resources, and conservation. Although this act was beneficial and impacted history, today Native Americans are still fighting for the basic rights they are deserving of.
