George W Bush used “axis of evil” to describe North Korea, Iran and Iraq and repeated the term throughout his presidency. Bush deemed North Korea “ A regime arming with missiles and weapons of mass destruction while starving its citizens”. While North Korea previously embarked upon development of both ICBM’s and nuclear weapons, it used Bush’s rhetoric to justify development of both. Protecting the citizens of the US was the basis for Bush’s strong stance against North Korea’s nuclear aspirations.
