The France Government broke off all negotiations with a note (Barthou note) to the UK Government. According to the German defense budget. Germany is against his regulation, undertaking a huge armament.

25.04.1934 Meeting between German Ambassador „von Hoesch“ and the King Georg (UK)
King Georg stated that it would have been ok, if Germany waited the Armament til after the treaty. Also asked why Germany needs a Defense force, since no one is threatening them.
