In October of 2006, North Korea claims to have successfully tested the first nuclear weapon. It was tested in the North Hamgyong Province, and resulted in a tremor of 4.2 magnitude. This is significant because North Korea now possesses the ability to harm nearby areas with the nuclear weapons.
