On February 21st in 1965, Malcolm X was announced dead shortly after being rushed to the hospital. Before the assassination, in an interview, Malcolm X stated he was convinced the Nation of Islam was trying to kill him. However, on the 21st, a protester in the audience shot him in the chest with a shotgun. During his life Malcolm X was an advocate for African American civil rights, and is considered one of the most influential African Americans in history.
