MLK goes to a Birmingham jail - April 12, 1963
Police Commissioner Eugene “Bull” Connor arrests MLK for demonstrating without a permit in Birmingham, Alabama. In jail MLK writes the famous “letter from Birmingham jail”. The letter was an answer to the local newspaper that criticized him and his fellow activists. Martin Luther King Jr was released on April 19th.
