mar 12, 1947 - Truman Doctrine
Description:
In 1947 the President Truman held a dramatic speech to a joint session of Congress. He argued that they needed to support other countries such as Greece and Turkey in their struggle to resist communism and containment. Containment was the policy of restricting communism expansion by diplomatic, military and economic action. The Truman Doctrine changed the word communism to something negative.
