Description:
The Great Leap Forward, is what exactly what it sounded like. Mao Zedong wanted China to catch up to other more industrialized countries and to do that he wanted people to make steel. While this worked in that steel production greatly increased agricultural production dropped greatly which led to famine. After this obvious failure, Mao Zedong scaled back his leadership and would remain dormant for a couple years, then came the Cultural Revolution.
