may 7, 1945 - Nazis Surrender From World War II
Description:
On this day, German General Alfred Jodl signed an unconditional surrender of German forces, East and West, at Reims in France. Jodl was hoping only to limit the terms of the German surrender to those who were still in a fight against the Western Allies. The U.S. General Dwight D. Eisenhower ordered the complete surrender of all German forces in the East and West. This was a week after Adolf Hitler committed suicide in his underground bunker.
