Description:

MLK was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee on April 4, 1968. A Baptist minister and founder of the SCLC, MLK had led the Civil Rights Movement since the mid-1950s. His death led to an outpouring of anger among African Americans. His assassination did help to speed up the creation of an equal housing bill, which would be the last significant achievement of the Civil Rights Era.
