apr 10, 1933 - CCC April 10, 1933
Description:
The Civilian Conservation Corps was a public works project that was part of Roosevelt's New Deal Legislation. The CCC put hundreds of thousands of young men aged 17-28 to work on environmental conservation projects. The main goal of the creation of the CCC was to relieve unemployment during the Great Depression by providing national conservation work primarily for young unmarried men. The CCC was particularly valuable for Indian and Hispanic youths, who left the program able to repair large trucks and tractors, skills highly employable during WWII.
