Description:

In 1857 a slave named Dred Scott moved from Missouri to Wisconsin and his owner died, he thought he was free because he was in free states and he did not have an owner. He went to the Supreme Court and the Southerners told him he was not free because he was property, not a person. This lead to the Civil War because people had different beliefs about slave rights which led to arguments then the Civil War.
