jan 1, 1972 - Niles Eldredge and Stephen Jay Gould (1972)
Description:
In 1972, paleontologists Eldredge and Gould would publish a landmark paper developing their theory. They called it punctuated equilibria. The theory claimed that species are generally stable, changing little for millions of years. It also described patterns of descent taking place in " fits an starts" separated by long periods of stability.
