jan 10, 1638 - Nicolaus Steno (Born Jan 10, 1638)
Description:
Nicolaus Steno was a Danish scientist that pioneered in anatomy and geology. His contributions to the theory of evolution include recognizing that fossils are petrified remains of real plants and animals and writing his law of superposition. Steno's Law of Superposition states that in any undisturbed sequence of rocks deposited in layers, the youngest layer is on top and the oldest is on the bottom. Each layer is younger than the one beneath it and older than the one above it.
