Start: Nanterre branch of University of Paris

Night of the Barricades: May 10th students occupy part of city and build barricades; police brutality --> revolt spreads; govt agrees to demands --> looks weak

End: De Gaulle worked with army to dissolve parliament and hold elections and negotiate with unions; elections --> De Gaulle still in power

Goals:
students - liberalization
workers - higher wages

Put Down: workers satisfied --> go back to work --> students alone --> cannot continue
