Description:
It became widely used around Lancashire after 1760 when John's son, Robert , invented the drop box, which facilitated changing thread colors.The roller spacing was slightly longer than the fibre length.
Too close a spacing caused the fibres to break while too distant a spacing caused uneven thread.
