jun 8, 1428 - Ruler's feather headdress (motecuhzumo II)
Description:
feathers (quetzal + cotinga) and gold
Mexica (Aztec)
Origional headdress was sent back to europe by Hernán Cortés (spanish conquistador), sent back many artifacts back to Charles V. Original in Vienna.
Took time and effort to make this, highly prized, we know due to the fact that it's made entirely out of quetzal feathers (only 2-3 tail feathers per bird plus they live in an entirely different region), evidence of long distance trade
Amanteca= "feather workers"
