8h 8min, aug 16, 1780 y - Battle of Camden
Description:
the Battle of Camden was a conflict between Great Britain and its thirteen colonies in North America during the American Revolutionary War (1775-1783). The battlefield in which the British and American Forces fought during the Battle of Camden was located in Camden, South Carolina. Despite the proliferation of diarrhea among his men, Continental General Horatio Gates chose to engage British General Charles Cornwallis’s force on the morning of August 16, 1780. The illness depleted the Patriot advantage in troop numbers, and the British pressed forward as the sole side in possession of bayonets. With the encounter resulting in nearly 2,000 Patriots killed or taken prisoner and heavy losses of artillery the Battle of Camden ended in victory for the British.
