The French, like the British, had owned a possession in Europe, unlike the British however, the French shared a border with Belgium and even the people of Belgium had considered themselves French as they shared a language. With the realization of the threat of Dutch troops fighting for the British, the French held a draft in Belgium to enlist troops of their own.
