nov 7, 1973 - War Powers Act

Description:

The War Powers Act of 1973 required the President to report to Congress within 48 hours of committing troops to foreign conflict or "substantially enlarging" US combat units. This limited authorization would have to end within 60 days unless Congress conceded to extend it another 30 days. When first passed through Congress and presented to the President, Nixon vetoed it. However, Congress overrode his veto.
