After Napoleon's reign, Charles X inherited the throne. He attempted to rule as an absolute monarch similar to leaders before the French Revolution. This method of leadership made citizens revolt against him, with protesters conquering Paris within a few days. Charles ultimately abdicated the throne and fled to England.
