Description:

This very important legislation passed in 1863 was an attempt to create nationwide banking standards and a single national currency. The Legislation was the first attempt to nationalize banking since Andrew Jackson had killed the Bank in 1836. NBS endured until 1913 when the Federal government created the Federal Reserve System.
