oct 17, 1859 - John Brown's raid

Description:

This man is an American legend, perhaps mostly because he was popularized through music and literature and promoted as an Abolitionist Champion. He was violent and probably somewhat insane, but by 1863, most of the nation was equally violently insane. I consider him one of my heroes because he carries the Abolitionist argument to the ultimate degree. One of his accomplice's, John Copeland, left a stirring and reasonable argument in defense of their actions.
