mar 17, 1852 - Uncle Tom's Cabin
Description:
The novel that started this great war, the book sold 100,000 in 1852 and succeeded in precisely what the author intended, a stirring up of anti-slavery sentiment in the North. She considered it a spiritual work saying "God wrote it." Perhaps she overdid it, the book was eventually translated into 6 or 7 languages and had a huge impact on Europeans as well as Americans, many of whom actually fought and died in the war.
