sep 29, 1829 - Appeal to the
Coloured Citizen's
of the World
Description:
First published in 1829 in Boston, this radical and revolutionary call to arms was smuggled into the south and secretly distributed to free blacks and slaves. Walker was a free black who had a used clothing store and stitched the pamphlets into coats to be concealed for the trip south. The document is a milestone in the evolution of a potent radical abolitionism among free blacks, slaves and whites.
