jan 1, 1891 - The first dial phone was invented.
A patent was given to Almon Brown Strowger and with that he invented the first dial or rotary phone. These types of phones made it easier for the everyday person to use and eliminated the need of an operator. The operator phone systems were difficult and could take up to 2 hours to connect to the person on the other end of the call, but these changed that. People were able to make calls directly to other people and this type of phone was used long into the 1900's proving to be very effective and helpful at the time.
