After the bombing of American Naval Fleets at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii on December 7th, 1941, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt requested from Congress a declaration of war against Japan. The Senate approved the request without any opposition and on December 8th, 1941, war was declared on Japan. That same day Britain declared war on Japan after numerous attacks by Japan on British forces in Malaya, Singapore, and Hong Kong.Added to timeline:
