Alabama Governor Wallace refused to admit two black students into the University of Alabama, despite federal law prohibiting segregation in public education facilities. Wallace still refused and personally blocked the students from entrance to the school. Kennedy then Federalized the Alabama National Guard and forced Wilson to allow the students to register.
