The summer of 1968 was a tempestuous time during the civil rights era and the assassination of Bobby Kennedy culminated that. Kennedy was perceived by many to be the only person in American politics capable of uniting the people. He was beloved by the minority community because of the way he had brought everyone together and fought for equality among everyone. When he was assassinated on June 5th, 1968 after announcing he would be running for president it put the nation into further disarray and people didn’t know who would rise to unite everyone again.
