In New York City, Malcolm X, an African American nationalist and religious leader, is assassinated by Black Muslims while presenting to his Organization of Afro-American Unity. Malcolm X was more of an aggressive activist than Martin Luther King Jr. and had committed more aggressive protesting tactics than Martin Luther King making him a more hostile target for white supremacist groups. Right after Malcolm X had made a pilgrimage to Mecca, so he could create the Afro-American group, Orthodox Muslims in the United States saw this as a political move and that angered them, so they assassinated him to stop the group from gaining momentum.Added to timeline:
