Reaper
Description:
In 1831, Cyrus McCormick from Virginia had a big impact on agriculture when he introduced the horse drawn reaper, a prototype of the modern combine, which cuts a wide swath through the grain field harvesting a lot of grain in a hurry. Six years later John Deere, of Illinois, introduced the steel plow, which gave mid-western farmers a much better tool to cut through the thick black top soil in preparation for planting.
