"3 hours prior to the commencement of OPERATION: DUES VULT, one June 20th, 1999, at 9:23 PM, a large energy spike was detected at the Diamond Site in Wyoming. Sensor readings indicated a sudden biomass energy release not prior observed in STARKILL biomass hubs. Seismic readings confirmed an equivalent magnitude 5.2 earthquake in Diamond, Wyoming. Visual observations made in the vicinity reported biomass emerging from the ground and surrounding the central Neural Strain structure. At the same time, the STARFALL ARRAY was set to a continuous fire mode to stop the biomass emergence; however, the attack was ineffective. Satellite imagery confirmed an 8.3-mile radius biomass emergence. The biomass structure, which appeared to have wings, long appendages, and crowned with the Diamond Site Neural Strain structure, started to levitate, reaching 50 feet off the ground after fully breaching the surface. Following this, growing metallic rings were observed orbiting the body. In addition to seismic readings, anomaly field readings showed a massive increase in the radius of the object. The field extended outward rapidly, engulfing several sensor outposts. Ground teams at Diamond Site visually confirmed the object. Photographs of the object were taken."

"Researchers at the HOME Department of Celestial Biological Study concluded that the appearance of this STARKILL form represented a shift into a new STARKILL biomass phase: the Proto Phase. The Proto Phase was defined as a critical biomass threshold wherein the biomass hub itself could become mobile, self-sufficient, and capable of self-regeneration of missing organs. Proto Phase activation could only occur once significant biomass was achieved to generate a reactor core, enabling mobility and energy production. A final phase was hypothesized, that being the Mature Phase, wherein the CBE would be returned to its original form. The Proto Phase was hypothesized to be able to achieve the Mature Form given enough time for regeneration to occur. Following visual confirmation of the object known as PROTO AZ-002, ground teams stationed at Diamond Site were evacuated ahead of an emergency commencement of OPERATION: DEUS VULT."
