Body found
Description:
"ORANGE -- An overdose of barbiturates apparently caused the death of Richard Edward Carlisle, 25, whose body was discovered by citizens Thursday morning [12/6/73] at the rear of a local commercial-industrial complex.
Police said further toxicology tests were scheduled today on the victim, whose address was not disclosed. The semi-nude body was found at 5:14am at the complex in the 1500 block of West Collins Avenue.
Officers said there were no signs of violence, and no wounds on the body. Police theorized the man died at another location and was dumped at the place it was found" (AB 12/7/73).
Official date of death in the CA Death Index, available in Ancestry, is Dec. 5, 1973.
Proposed by: me
Reasons proposed: Demographics, time period, SoCal (especially specifically OC); (possible) COD overdose, body dumped, found partially nude, near highway
Reasons against: Kraft didn't use barbiturates (though it's my understanding that they're quite similar to benzos, which he did use); found behind a building (though then again, David Sandt was found next to a vacant house); totally possible it could've been accidental; overall very little info available either way
NOTE TO SELF: I have requested a copy of the autopsy report, etc. from the OC Coroner's Office through email on the morning of July 9, 2026.
Other involved agencies I should possibly submit requests to: City of Orange PD

** The only other sources I could find were some basic records on Ancestry. I couldn't even find an FG for him. **
