Description:

"He was last seen leaving a gay church in Costa Mesa where he had Thanksgiving dinner and helped with the dishes. The next day his body, covered only by a bloodstained t-shirt, was found at the end of a remote road in Irvine. He had been abused. Cause of death: suffocation. Reeves's car, which was last seen parked in the church parking lot, was found abandoned in Belmont Shore" (LBPT 6/8/75 pt 2).

"Went to a dinner at a gay community church on the afternoon of Thanksgiving Day 1974. He left, saying he was going to a movie in Orange County. His car later was found in a parking lot in the Belmont Shore area of Long Beach. The next afternoon, his body was found on Barranca Road in Irvine" (Last Ride, Ch.3).

NOTE: The quotes above are ambiguous. While open to interpretation, the most specific reading of the Last Ride quote is that the car was found a) sometime after James was last seen, but b) the day before (or at least, generally sometime before, possibly the same day as) the body was found.

Note: Thanksgiving Day 1974 was on Nov. 28th.
