feb 22, 1819 - Adams-Onis Treaty
Description:
A treaty between Spain and the United States that added Florida to the U.S. and defined the boundary between the U.S. and New Spain. The treaty was made in response to Jackson's invasion of Florida, and since Spain did not want to go to war with the U.S., nor did it want to strengthen its government in Florida, they decided to give the land to the Americas.
