jan 1, 646 - Taika Reforms in Japan
Description:
The Taika Reforms in Japan were an attempt by China to make the Japanese monarch into an absolute Chinese-style emperor. This included trying to make a professional bureaucracy and a peasant conscript army. Although the Taika reforms failed they allowed for China to influence Japan. Because of them Japan adopted many Chinese customs.
