Description:

Different quarrels, such as what kind of bread should be used for the Last Supper and the celibacy of priests created tension between the the Roman Catholic and the Eastern Orthodox churches. They tried to figure it out the disputes without success. Eventually the pope excommunicated the patriarch (leader of the Orthodox church) and then the patriarch excommunicated all Roman Catholics. This split has had a last impact. The doctrine between the two factions differ and still causes tension.
