Beginning in the 7th century, Muslim migrants, invaders, and traders spread the religion to Southeast Asia. India, especially was highly influenced by by Islam. Muslims came to be the ruling minority of India. They set up the Delhi Sultanate. The tensions between Hindus and Muslims is still around today. Also, the mixing of India and Muslim culture can be seen throughout the subcontinent.
