Description:
This British law closed European ports under French control, (blockade) to foreign shipping, including American shippers, unless they first stopped in Britain. Britain wanted to strangle French imports from America and had the navy to do so. It was an affront to U.S. sovereignty and hurtful to the American economy.Added to timeline:
