Description:

Jews had lived in Palestine for a very long time, but large numbers of them moved to the region after a British mandate was granted in the aftermath of WWI. After the second world war, more and more Jewish refugees moved into Palestine, and tensions rose between the Jews and native Arabs. On May 4th, 1948, after Arab forces in Palestine refused a peace agreement were beat by Jewish forces, the nation of Israel came into being. The neighboring Arab nations were outraged and attempted to invade Israel. Israel prevailed, and after a peace treaty was also accepted into the UN.
